Who we are

The Stewards of Western Maine Climbing (SWMC) is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to protecting and preserving climbing access in Western Maine through community collaboration and responsible stewardship.

Founded in 2025, SWMC works to support the growing climbing community in and around Bethel, Greenwood, and neighboring towns by maintaining sustainable access, promoting safe climbing practices, and fostering a shared ethic of care for the land.
